Blogtober Day 9: It feels like fall when....
It feels like fall when...
When my baby boy was still a baby boy.. back in 2011...
Today on Blogtober I'm talking about it feels like fall when....
Fall is very different now that I'm an adult. When I was a kid, my memories of fall include piles of leaves to jump in. The leaves changed quick and the air became cold as early as September. I remember going to football games in school. A lot of my childhood memories of fall are tied to halloween, which is a holiday we have never celebrated with my children, so its very different for me now!
Funny thing, when I was growing up halloween was one of my families favorite holidays. We had big parties and put a lot of work into decorating. My husband was convicted of celebrating early on, so after our daughter was born we just decided to forego the holiday all together. Little by little, the rest of my family began to feel the same and now, none of them celebrate. We were never pushy or judgy, we just simply chose not too on our own, but they made the same decisions over the years as well.
So fall is a bit different on this side of my life, but my children have wonderful memories of fall.
To me, it feels like fall when the air is cooler. In Eastern NC, that happens a little later on- its just now getting to where we have mornings under 60 degrees, and that's okay. We honestly haven't even closed down the pool (that must happen this weekend! We are so far behind) but my kids were still dipping their feet in it early on in the week!
It feels like fall when hobby lobby smells like apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice! It feels like fall when Ms. Amy brings my hubby pumpkin bread to church. It feels like fall when we start to cozy up the house and bring in the tupperware full of reds and oranges to change our home from the light pastel blue and tan to the fall and winter decor that we miss all year!
It feels like fall when pumpkin spice donuts arrive at Krispy Kreme!
And routine sets in.
I LOVE fall, its my favorite time of year, and I'm sooo glad this week feels like fall!
Fall is my favorite season! The 'BER months have ALWAYS been my favorites. Even as a kid I wasn't much into Halloween - not even much decorating, though as an adult I do like handing out candy, especially to the little ones. I participate in town though through a friends business helping her with the Trunk-OR-Treat. I'm glad you're starting to see Fall in your neck of the woods. We actually had to turn the heat on yesterday for the first time as our lows are starting to dip into the 30's at night. Have a great rest of the week.
