Blogtober day 7: Fall Cleaning

So I know that 'Spring cleaning" comes at the end of a long winter season, where we clean out and get ready for busier days and warmer weather.  But why do so many people not do 'fall cleaning'?

I actually started fall cleaning a few weeks ago!  I think that its important to do- we are preparing for a season where we spend a lot more time indoors, so why not be sure that everything is ready for that season?
Your indoor spaces have a huge affect on your mood!  I think its so important to take the time and make home a nice place to be, inside and out!
  So where to start?
Start with decluttering!!!  That should always be the first place we start.  It's so much easier to clean if you have less inventory.  Decluttering is a mindset shift as well, something that resets our minds and calms us.  Less stuff means less things to clean!

After decluttering I start with the big projects that will take awhile to tackle.  My big projects are walls, floors and cabinets.  I honestly use the same cleaning tool for all three of these.  My O Cedar spin mop is my favorite cleaning tool ever.   I know they sale a different version of this that seperates the clean and dirty water, but instead I just bought a cheap bucket from Walmart that I use for the clean water, and let the dirty water spin into the bucket.  That works for me and saved me a little big!
This mop gets the cleaning tool almost dry, which is perfect for mopping cabinets and walls!  I tackled this last week, cleaning all my cabinets and the walls in my bedroom and two bathrooms.  I still have a way to go, but I'm thankful to be getting started!

I also use this mop a few weeks ago to clean my shower!  It worked like a charm!  Did I mention I LOVE this mop?

The next big job are my floors, which again, O Cedar is the way to go.  I have a roomba that does the daily cleaning, but the mopping isn't a big job with my O Cedar mop.

After the big jobs I like to work on the smaller ones.  Switching over seasonal clothing is a great time to declutter!  Talking out fall decorations is a great time to declutter!  I have decorations for Fall, Christmas, Winter/Spring and summer.  I alternate these during the transitional times of the year, and try hard not to add much more!

Fall is also a great time to declutter toys.  There are families who will be thrift shopping for Christmas, and what better time to add quality toys to the stores!  It is a great time to declutter kitchen items as well, as some shoppers would love to pick those up to bless their loved ones during the holidays!

And those summer clothes that didn't get worn once this summer?  ThredUp is my favorite way to thrift.  They send you a bag, you fill it up and send it back postage paid.  I've never made a lot, but it makes the thrifting process so much easier!!

This fall I really want to dive in to declutter and reset my home! I hope some of you will follow and declutter with me!
