A catch up post!
I was really ambitious about posting this Blogtober day, and yesterday got away from me! I was able to catch up and join Happy Homemaker Monday and share our trip to the game, but I didn't get to do my Blogtober post! So here goes, this is for day 6 (yesterday) for Blogtober!
Fall Traditions
When I was typing this up, I realized we hadn't had a normal fall in awhile. We moved here in the fall (On October 6th actually!) three years ago- two years ago we were vacationing in the fall, then last year Hurricane Helene hit our hometown.
so last year we made several trips to try and help our family back there pick up the pieces
of the world that was almost destroyed by that terrible hurricane. That picture is my Dad's store, very early on in the storm...
So I tried to think back on our normal fall traditions that we usually follow and this is what I came up with!
We do tend to travel to see our family in the Mountains in the fall! And of course baking is one of our favorite traditions! I made this apple pie with my niece years ago- and I still remember us doing it together! She was so proud!
Stringing green beans in my sisters kitchen

Buying nutcrackers for Christmas is a tradition! This year we got to get some for my
nieces and nephews as well! We love our nutcracker collection!
Our youngest daughter has a birthday in late October! So we celebrate her each year!
Again, with her cousins! We love visiting them this time of year, and the weather in the mountains is perfect!
We live a little less than 2 hours from the coast, so we tend to travel there a lot in the fall.
The prices are cheaper to stay overnight, the crowds are gone but the beaches are still warm and comfortable! It's a perfect time of year to spend some time by the ocean!
The NC Baptist State Convention is always in November. We really enjoy that!
We get to see a lot of people we have met over the years from all over the state! My kids grew up on campus at a Bible college so they met a lot of people and they love visiting with people who have lived there as well!
We love our tradition (which we haven't done yet) of putting up our fall decorations and making
our first pumpkin pie of the season!
Also, October is Pastor appreciation month! I'm super appreciative of my amazing Pastor (who is also my husband) so we try and give him some sweet little surprises over the month. So do our church members. He's an amazing pastor, and deserves all the love!
And the week after Thanksgiving... Christmas decor starts going up!
What are your fall traditions? Thanks for joining me for Blogtober!
